Through Humpty Dumpty’s Wish List, hospitals and health services staff can request crucial medical equipment for paediatric wards, neonatal units, maternity and emergency departments to help children at their most vulnerable of times.
JAMA GROUP recently purchased two essential pieces of medical equipment that will unequivocally be put to good use in Westmead Hospital’s Maternity Ward and Wollongong Hospital’s Paediatrics & Special Care Nursery.
The handheld RAD 5 Pulse Oximeter takes accurate measurements of a pulse rate, oxygen saturation and blood flow and is essential in assessing the current status and treatment implications for paediatric patients. Nurses at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital’s Maternity Unit will use the Pulse Oximeter to record arterial oxygen levels accurately and efficiently while quickly tracking any changes in young patients.
Wollongong Hospital’s Paediatrics & Special Care Nursery has welcomed a new RAD 7 Pulse Oximeter. This important medical device can measure the amount of oxygen in a baby’s capillaries by shining a light through the infant’s finger or toe. The Oximeter Rad 7 ensures correct and safe oxygen delivery during highly critical times in an effort to prevent damage to a baby’s organs.
Now in its 29th year the Foundation supports the provision for medical equipment to over 400 hospitals and health services centres around Australia to help save the lives of children.
